South Korea designates Pakistan as ‘priority partner’ for economic cooperation

Pakistan was designated as a “priority partner” on Thursday for the Korean Economic Development Cooperation.

In the 10th round of Pakistan-South Korea bilateral policy consultations, the two countries agreed to enhance bilateral economic cooperation.

Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua led Pakistan’s delegation comprising Ambassador to Republic of Korea Rahim Hayar Qureshi and Director General East Asia Pacific Samina Mehtab while South Korean Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun represented the republic in the meeting held in Seoul on Thursday.

Prior to the meeting, Janjua met with her counterpart Kang Kyung-Wha and discussed closer cooperation between the two friendly countries. They reviewed “gamut of bilateral relations and identified opportunities and possibilities for further deepening the relations in all fields especially in the spheres of trade, investment, education, culture and parliamentary exchanged.”

The two sides deliberated over high level visits to Pakistan to establish closer ties. The matter pertaining to regional security situation in the South Asia and Korean Peninsula were also discussed with Pakistan’s delegation emphasising on the resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

On the sidelines of the talks, Janjua also interacted with members of the Pakistani community and thanked them for contributing in the dam fund.
