Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar Sunday went through angioplasty after doctors found one of his arteries blocked during a routine checkup.
“The chief justice is feeling better,” Maj Gen Azhar Mehmood Kiyani, head of the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, said, adding that a medical board will decide on Monday (today) if the chief justice will remain hospitalised after his successful angioplasty. The chief justice had gone to the hospital for a routine checkup where doctors suggested that he should undergo an angioplasty. Two balloon stents were inserted during the procedure.
Following the procedure, the chief justice was shifted to a room where his family was allowed to meet him. Justice Asif Saeed Khosa also visited the hospital to inquire after the chief justice. The hospital officials said that the chief justice has been advised to take rest for at least four days. On the other hand, Rangers have taken over security of the hospital to avoid any untoward situation.
