The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) on Saturday handed over a list of retired employees to the Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) for payment of their pension.
A delegation of PHA headed by Senior Clerk Tariq visited the Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi and handed over the record of 49 retired employees along with the cheque of more than Rs 10 million to the authority concerned for the payment of their pension and other dues.
According to sources, there are 25 retired employees who have not received their monthly pension since last two years while 24 employees are those who are also struggling to their pension since the last one-and-a-half year.
These 49 employees were permanent employees of the MCR but when the city district government was dissolved these employees were sent to the PHA on deputation.
According to orders of Punjab Local Government, the employees are eligible to avail the pension from the department where they have served the major part of their service.
The chief officer of MCR, Shafqat Raza, ensured the payment of retired employees within ten working days. The representatives of the PHA workers union appreciated the efforts of the chief officer of MCR regarding the payment of the pension of retired employees.
