The Darkest Day in Kashmir History

Author: Muhammad Zahid Rifat

Kashmir is living on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC), Pakistan and across the world have observed yet another protest day on October 27, 2018  to mark another darkest day in Kashmir history. On this day way back  in 1947, Indian forces had landed in the territory and occupied it against the aspirations of the Kashmir is and India is maintaining its forcible occupation for the last 71 years in flagrant violations of the United Nations Security Council Resolutions refusing to grant fundamental right of self-determination and continuing brutalities, oppression and killing of Kashmiri men, women and children.

President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan in their messages on the observation of the darkest day in Kashmir history have quite rightly and emphatically   reiterated Pakistan’s continued unflinching moral, diplomatic and political support in their just struggle for liberation from Indian occupation and securing  their right of self-determination.

Pakistan Government ‘s reiteration and  continued support to oppressed people of Indian occupied Kashmir in their just struggle for securing their birth right of self-determination in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions also aimed at  drawing the attention of the international community towards Indian security forces oppressive brutalities and atrocities on the Kashmir is men, women and children demanding freedom from forced Indian occupation.

India had air lifted  its security forces on 27 October 1947 and occupied the valley of Jammu and Kashmir after the Hindu Maharaja through an illegal instrument  announced accession to India. One can sell land but not the people living on that land. But the Hindu Maharaja had sold the people of valley of Jammu and Kashmir and the international community had remained a silent witness to this wholesale selling of the Kashmir is then and continues to be looking the other side criminally and regretfully even now.

People of Pakistan avail every opportunity to  reiterate their continued support to the  Kashmir is in their just, unarmed and indigenous struggle against Indian occupation and to shake and wake up sleeping conscious of the international community and the human rights organization towards what is going on  in the occupied Kashmir and how

The Kashmir is are  fighting against occupying Indian security forces, rejecting India’s illegal occupation and more importantly to wake up conscience  of the United Nation Organization (UNO) and  its member countries  to implement its resolutions and exert pressure on India to grant the Kashmir is their fundamental right of self-determination which it itself had  committed  on the floor of UN Security Council.

Kashmiris indigenous, unarmed struggle for freedom from Indian occupation, which they have all along been rejecting terming it illegal and against their aspirations and their great sacrifices are more than enough to tell the international community that India can continue killing the Kashmiris but it cannot suppress their sentiments for freedom

Kashmir is indigenous, unarmed struggle for freedom from Indian occupation, which they have all along been rejecting terming it illegal and against their aspirations and their great sacrifices are more than enough to tell the international community that India can continue killing the Kashmir is but it cannot suppress their sentiments for freedom for which their struggle will continue till cherished objective of freedom is achieved no matter how much much sacrifices they have to make.

It is a bitter as well as quite regrettable reality that Kashmir dispute remains on the UN agenda as unresolved for very, very long period and at the same time the continued silence of the international community in this respect is also deplorable. Even when the founding day of the United Nations was observed on October 24 throughout the world and its achievements were highlighted few days back, there was no mention of unresolved lingering Kashmir dispute and any reiteration for its peaceful solution by granting the Kashmir is their birth right of self-determination in accordance with UN resolutions and India’s commitment. In fact, unresolved Kashmir dispute remains a black spot on the face of the world body.

It is not comprehensible as to why the world body as well as the international community remain unmoved over the sacrifices which the Kashmir is are making and do not pressurize India to grant them their right of self-determination. Perhaps, there are some invisible forces which are playing the dirtiest game of let the Kashmir dispute remain unresolved on the UN agenda .The history of the world body is replete with its achievements of resolving the disputes within months or even earlier in weeks and needless to mention that all this has been possible only when these some invisible forces wanted that to happen. When these invisible forces want, they give signal to the international community and all UN members including its five permanent members gather and raise their hands and it happens straightaway.

Kashmir is are fighting an unarmed struggle against heavy occupying Indian forces brutalities, oppression , torture and killings and rape and hair cutting of their women and girls in a determined manner  and already more than six lakhs of them have embraced martyrdom  at the hand of  occupying Indian security forces but they continue their unarmed struggled in undeterred manner and they are bound to succeed  in due course of time, Inshallah, with continued blessings of Almighty Allah.

It is matter of great shame and regret that the international community including so-called world human rights champion USA all are criminally silent over India’s continued occupation and gross human rights violations and killings of more and more Kashmiris whose only crime is that they do not accept Indian occupation which is against their aspirations and want freedom by exercising the right of self-determination.

India no doubt is a big country, big democracy and it is also committing the biggest crimes and human rights violations in its occupied Kashmir and continuing committing all sorts inhuman treatment, oppression  and oppression. All these inhuman and criminal acts of India are being watched by the international community as silent spectators.

Kashmir is the unfinished  agenda of partition of the Indian sub-continent and in all fairness the Kashmiri people are fighting to secure their birth right of self-determination, freedom from  Indian occupation and complete the Pakistan Movement. Pakistan and Kashmir have eternal bond of geography, culture and religion.

Atrocities, brutalities, suppressive and oppressive measures of all sorts continuously being unleashed by occupying Indian security forces, whose number is more than six lakhs, as well as the the great sacrifices being offered by Kashmiri men, women and children in their struggle for freedom  cannot be mentioned in just one or more articles. Long history of Kashmiris struggle in the face of forced Indian occupation in fact needs volumes of books to do justice with their endless sacrifices for freedom. But for want of adequate space, the long history of Kashmiris struggle for freedom is being mentioned only briefly.  Over the years, Indian government has been forcibly migrating  Hindus into occupied Kashmir to turn the predominantly majority Muslim population into minority but even after resorting to such tactics, India is not letting the Kashmiris to exercise their right of self-determination which is universally recognized .

Pakistan has all along been supporting just indigenous, unarmed struggle of the Kashmiris at  all international forums urging upon the international community to open their eyes and see the Indian state organized terrorism in held Kashmir and play their positive and constructive role  in peaceful solution of Kashmir dispute. Pakistan has been and will continue to extend political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiris’ struggle for securing freedom from Indian occupation and exercising their right of self-determination and deciding their future themselves. Resolution of Kashmir dispute is key to stable peace, prosperity and prosperity in South Asia. Continued denial of right of self-determination to Kashmiris and even not holding bilateral talks for resolving linger Kashmir dispute peacefully has exposed the so-called democratic face of India.

The people of Pakistan   hope that by  highlighting every now and then  Kashmiris ongoing  peaceful struggle for freedom from Indian occupation , they will be able  to  wake up the somehow sleeping conscience of the international community and human rights organizations and bodies all over the globe and sensitize the lingering unresolved Kashmir dispute on the UNagenda .

World conscience may suddenly wake up some day, come up in open support of struggling Kashmiris and  put its whole weight on India to let the Kashmiris have what is their birth right to decide their future themselves. The day is not far off when besides the people of Pakistan who continuously support Kashmiris just cause on all internal forums the international community at large will also be supporting the Kashmiris ongoing freedom struggle.
