Abdullah Gul, the son of former ISI chief LtGen (r) Hamid Gul, Friday claimed to have survived an attempt on his life, saying his vehicle reportedly came under fire in Islamabad.

Talking to media outside Safari Hospital, where the body of JUI-S chief Maulana Samiul Haq was brought following his assassination, Abdullah said armed assailants opened fire on his vehicle on the Islamabad Expressway, however he remained unhurt in the attack.

Earlier in the day, Maulana Sami was assassinated at his residence in Rawalpindi when unidentified attackers reportedly stabbed the cleric to death while he was alone at home in the evening.
