On the occasion of his birthday, following are the King of Bollywood’s most memorable roles:

‘Baazigar:’ When Vishwanath Sharma (Anant Mahadevan) loses his business to treacherous employee Madan Chopra (Dalip Tahil), Sharma’s son, Ajay (Shah Rukh Khan), vows to avenge him. While secretly dating Madan’s daughter, Seema (Shilpa Shetty), a disguised Ajay introduces himself to her father and her sister, Priya (Kajol), as businessman Vicky Malhotra, charming them both. After murdering Seema and making it look like a suicide, Ajay prepares to marry into Madan’s family to complete his revenge.

‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge:’ Raj and Simran meet on a trip to Europe. After some initial misadventures, they fall in love. The battle begins to win over two traditional families.

‘Chak De! India:’ After failing to score the winning goal, Kabir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan), Captain of the Men’s Hockey Team is blamed for the team’s loss and fired. Years later he is given a chance to salvage his reputation, when he is offered the position as coach of the Women’s Hockey Team. One of his star players, Vidya (Vidya Malvade), is forced to convince her tradition-minded parents that she should be allowed to play as the team prepares for a big tournament in Australia.

‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai:’ Before dying, a woman (Rani Mukherjee) leaves letters asking her daughter to play matchmaker for her father (Shahrukh Khan) and his college friend (Kajol).

‘Devdas’: Devdas (Shahrukh Khan) makes his way back home to India after spending 10 years studying in London. He plans to marry Paro (Aishwarya Rai), his childhood best friend, but his parents (Vijay Crishna, Smita Jaykar) do not want Devdas to marry her. They believe that Paro’s family, who descend from a line of dancers, is of a lower class than their own. Eventually, Paro marries another man, and the despondent Devdas descends into life-threatening alcoholism.

‘Darr:’ Kiran Awasthi (Juhi Chawla) is engaged to Sunil (Sunny Deol), a successful young navy man who has the approval of Kiran’s family. But someone doesn’t approve of the pair’s plans and begins making threatening calls to their house. The culprit turns out to be Kiran’s scorned, obsessed lover, Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan), who takes his jealousy too far, even attempting to kill Sunil. Kiran and Sunil flee to Switzerland, but Rahul manages to discover their whereabouts and heads west to confront them.

‘Dil Se:’ Journalist Amar falls for a mysterious woman on an assignment, but she does not reciprocate his feelings. However, when Amar is about to get married, the woman shows up at his doorstep asking for help.

‘My Name Is Khan:’ The story of an Indian Muslim man who suffers from the Asperger’s syndrome, a form of autism that impacts social interaction abilities. He is arrested mistakenly as a suspected terrorist in post-9/11 Los Angeles.
