Advisor to Chief Minister for Information Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that Karachi Development Authority (KDA) had been given one week time to complete cleaning and rehabilitation process of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Park.
While talking to media persons at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Park Clifton on Wednesday, he warned that strict action would be taken against those responsible in case of failure. He said that Sindh government and Anticorruption department had received scores of complaints regarding dilipidated condition of the park. “Last night, I directed KDA to start cleaning the park. “Though I have witnessed improvements but it is not enough,” he noted. Barrister Murtaza Wahab remarked that KDA failed to maintain this important park of city and added that it was only interested in renting out the park for organising illegal fairs. He was disappointed to see the condition of park today, he said.
He then said that the KDA had been given one week time and strict action would be taken if KDA authorities did not improve the condition of the park. “We need result-oriented compliance of provincial government directives and no excuses would be acceptable in this regard,” he asserted. He further said that the government had began taking action against those responsible for the destruction of the park.
Answering a query, the provincial advisor said that sit in protests had began in some places of city. He added that the administration was in constant touch with the protestors and the Sindh government was trying to keep situation in control through district administration and police.
Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that the government would act according to the constitution. He advised the Pakitan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) to take decisions according to rules and regulations. Earlier on Wednesday, Barrister Wahab inspected the cleaning drive of park and thoroughly visited various corners of the park. KDA Executive Engineer Imran Abro briefed the provincial advisor about the measures being taken for rehabilitation of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Park.
