BERLIN: Brazil’s Olympic champion Walace has joined Bundesliga strugglers Hamburg in a deal valued by German media on Tuesday at nine million euros. “Walace is a robust and strong player. We are delighted he’s able to start playing for us straight away,” Hamburg sporting director Jens Todt said. The 21-year-old who moves from Brazilian side Gremio Porto Alegre has signed a contract until 2021. “I have to adapt quickly to my new situation,” said the defender who helped Brazil win gold at the Rio 2016 Games. “I hope to be able to help the club in the difficult position they are currently facing,” added Walace with his new side one off the bottom of the league with 13 points from 18 games.
