SSIC holds meeting with Sindh CM’s adviser to examine industrial progress

Sindh Small Industries Corporation (SSIC) Director Abdul Nadim Qureshi on Tuesday held a consultative meeting with the adviser to Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah on industries and commerce Muhammad Bux Mahar to analyse progress of industrial development in the region.

Reportedly, the meeting was briefed that the regional office of SSIC was established in 1989 which consisted of three small industrial estates in Larkana, Kandhkot and Shikarpur.

Besides, the director informed Mahar that training centers, handicrafts and several development units were also operating in Kashmore and Mohenjo Daro.

He said that the industrial zone in Larkana was spread over 59.05 acres with 313 various sizes of plots.

“The category A consists of 1,000 sq yard, category B includes 555 sq yard and category C comprises of 333 sq yard plots,” he said, adding that the small industrial estates in Larkana, Shikarpur and Kandhkot were established in years 1962-63, 1984-85 and 1985-86, respectively.

Besides, Industries department secretary Abdul Hakim Shaikh, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Noman Siddique and other officials were also present in the meeting.

The meeting observed that the department has been providing certain facilities to businessmen and the general public in the entire division of Larkana.

Mahar said that 87 percent of the industrial estate work has been completed, but the department was facing shortage of employees and other issues which were needed to be resolved urgently.

He pledged to provide maximum possible facilities to industrialists for benefitting the state’s economy.

“We are trying to build ‘proper’ infrastructure in this regard,” he said, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan was a sportsman while Sindh province required essential resources for improving sports sector.

Later, he visited the Economic Zone which is being established in Areeja village.
