KARACHI: Sindh government has asked the federal government to immediately provide grid supply for electricity to the province as there was about 2,500 megawatts projects lying dormant due to absence of a grid in some areas.
In this regard, the provincial government has written a letter to the federal government for the construction of grid as they had promised earlier.
Sindh Government is seriously concentrating on various alternate energy projects to overcome the shortage of electricity in the province. This was informed by the Chief Minister Sindh while addressing Sindh Assembly on ‘Private Members Day’ here on Tuesday.
“Many alternate energy projects have started in the province to overcome shortage of electricity, “Several solar energy projects have been initiated and there are two villages near the Indian border where Sindh government has started model project of solar energy to provide electricity.”
Another big project of solar energy is underway for street lights. A 650 megawatts project of wind energy will be built to supply power to the national grid. Projects consisting of 350 megawatts will be completed soon. The Sindh government is also working on 2,500 megawatts projects lying dormant due to the absence of a grid in the area.
