Rs 10bn received from Centre for uplift projects: mayor

Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar announced on Monday that a sum of Rs10 billion (bn) had been received from the federal government for the completion of ongoing development projects in the metropolis.

During a meeting of Karachi city council, Mayor Waseem Akhtar said that the projects included construction of flyovers at Sakhi Hassan Chowrangi, Five Star Chowrangi and KDA Chowrangi along with procurement of equipment worth Rs 2 billion (bn) for fire brigade.

Mayor said that he was personally thankful to Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan for release of this amount for Karachi and for showing interest in the metropolis. “These flyovers will be completed in March 2019,” he hoped.

Metropolitan Commissioner Dr SaifurRehman and other relevant officials attended the meeting.
