Punjab Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan on Monday lambasted opposition parties for uniting and joining hands for seeking a way out of their difficulties in corruption cases.

Reportedly, he addressed a press conference at the Commissioner’s office in Gujranwala, and said that no thieve or robber would be spared and accountability for all would be ensured.

He stated that development projects and cleanliness campaign in all provinces would continue.

Regarding Gujranwala’s condition of uncleanliness, he emphasised on taking on a hefty workload to remove piles of trash and uplift environmental health.

“I hope that our efforts would remove Gujranwala’s name which was being called as the filthiest city of Asia,” he said.

“Instead of waiting for annual grants and loans, state institutions and industries should be able to generate sufficient profits for better interest of the general public,” he said, adding that corrupt elements would be dealt according to the Constitution of Pakistan.

Furthermore, he revealed that the bill of new bodies system was under consideration by the department of Law and it would be sent to Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Prime Minister Imran Khan for approval.

Later, Gujranwala Commissioner Asadullah Faiz briefed him about the ongoing anti-encroachment drive and informed that 9,861 kanals of state land have been recovered from land grabbers.

He appreciated their efforts and urged them to raise awareness amongst public about importance of maintaining cleanliness for achieving the goal of ‘Clean and Green Pakistan.’

Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid inspects health facilities at DHQ Hospital

Provincial Minister for Health Dr Yasmeen Rashid on Monday paid a surprise visit to the DHQ Hospital in Gujranwala.

The minister inspected different wards and inquired about health of patients and medical facilities being provided to them by administration of the hospital.

Reportedly, she said that Rs280 billion have been allocated for improvement of health sector in the budget, and the federal government has been striving to achieve its set targets of ‘100 days’.

She revealed that health cards would be available for the public in December, whereas journalists would be facilitated by the Health Card Scheme.

She said that 8,000 doctors and 1,500 nurses have been recruited through public service commission.

She said that contract employees in the health sector could get themselves regularised by filing written applications to higher authorities.

Meanwhile, medical superintendent (MS) of the hospital briefed her about medical facilities being provided to patients.

She urged doctors, staff and administration to perform their duties honestly, and asked them to ensure that patients were being given free of cost treatment and medicines.
