EU’s delegation meets Bilawal to discuss matters of mutual interest

ISLAMABAD: The European Parliament’s four-member delegation for relations with South Asia on Monday called on Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at Zardari House in Islamabad.

The delegation comprised of Jean Lambert, Wajid Khan, Sajjad Karim and George Mayer discussed matters of mutual interest including Pakistan’s compliance with the EU conditions on Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP) and effective implementation of 27 core international conventions on human and labour rights, environmental protection and good governance.

In order for Pakistan to keep benefitting from duty-free exports and tariffs, including zero duties on two-thirds of all product categories, 27 core international conventions are needed to be applied their true spirit and essence. European Union Ambassador to Pakistan Jeans Cautain was also present in the meeting while freedom of expression and other human rights issues were also discussed.

Meanwhile, PPP General Secretary Nayyar Bukhari, senators Sherry Rehman and Mustafa Khokhar, member of national assembly (MNA) Nafisa Shah and Farhatullah Babar accompanied Bilawal during the meeting.
