ISLAMABAD: Illegal housingsocieties have swallowed life savings of billions of rupee from general public in the twin cities but instead of taking action the National Accountability Bureau is providing shelter to them.

The affected persons of the National Assembly Cooperative Housing Societycould not get plots so far. Similarly the Senate Cooperative Housing Society has snatched billions of rupees from people as well as the parliamentarians. Likewise Jinnah Gardens Sawan and CBR Cooperative Housing Societies have taken money from the members but the possession of land has not been handed over to them.

The CDA and Registrar Cooperative Societies have tightened their lips on the situation .NAB , after issuing the arrest warrant of the President of the Housing Society Ministry of Commerce has also kept silent on the matter.

On the other hand Additional Director (Cooperative HousingSocieties )of NAB has also changed his lifestyle by taking advantage of the corruption of the owners of these societies.

Though the NAB has started investigation against the office bearers ofthe Ministry of Commerce Housing Society and issued the arrest warrants of President of the society RanaGhulamFarid but it did notapprehend him deliberately as in the case of his arrest , the entirecorrupt mafia in NAB would had been exposed, who got financialbenefits from him.

Some have also allegedly taken plots from Rana Farid. The Additional Director NAB Ghazi-ur-Rehman has also gonemysteriously quiet on the issue.

It was also seen in the past that NAB had arrested even those accusedagainst whom the probe had not started and on the first notice , thebureau shifted them to the lock-ups.

There are several affected persons of the National Assembly Cooperative HousingSociety but NAB is reluctant to take action against its owners as most of its officials have benefited from them.

In the same waythe affected persons of the Senate Housing Society are running from pillarto post for the justice but the Additional Director Ghazi-ur-Rehman isalso hesitant to take notice.

The sources said that the incumbent management of the society hasawarded the contract of selling 500 plots to a group belonging toKarachi, which is selling the plots without the approval of the CDA, RegistrarCooperative and NAB. The sources said that some officials of the NABhad given only verbal permission to them.

On the indication from themedia , this illicit sale of plots was prevented with immediateeffect.

The investigation revealed that the owners of Sawan Gardens, byswindling NAB have sold some 200 plots on the catchment land of River Sawan, but the bureau did not dare to ask them about landgrabbing. Similarly the owners of Jinnah Gardens are not ready togive plots to the people , who gave money to them , whereas the filesof the CBR Housing Society are with FIA and Registrar Cooperatives butNAB is indisposed to take action against them.

Reliable sources said that the violation of law was carried out in Gulberg Housing Society and the state owned land was also sold by dividing it into plots. The sources said that though the NAB had started investigation against the office bearer of the society but theowners succeeded to put the matter under the carpet by bribing them. However NAB authorities did notconfirm it. Sources also told this scribe that Ghazi-ur-Rehman AdditionalDirector of NAB is leading a quite lavish life and he bought many big houses and luxury vehicles in the name of his close relatives . He used cars worth millions of rupees openly without any fear.

In this connection Daily Times contacted him and he said that NAB was taking action against the housing societies according to the law andit had also arrested many corrupt people.

“It is not in my knowledgethat Rana Ghulam Farid is wandering freely, as we issued his arrestwarrant. But the Intelligence Wing of NAB is continuously following him,” he added.
