Another trader asked for extortion money

Author: Daily Times Monitor

Just three days after a trader was shot for refusing to pay money to extortionists, another trader received a demand for extortion money.

A trader in Lyari reported that an unidentified person on a motorcycle handed him a slip and drove away. He said that the extortionists were demanding Rs 1 million (m) from him. A case was registered against the man in the Baghdadi police station.

In a similar incident, another trader received a call on WhatsApp from a foreign mobile number demanding money. Earlier on Thursday, a trader was shot in the metropolis after he refused paying ‘protection money’ to an extortionist and disconnected his Whatsapp calls.
