US President Trump turns down India’s invitation for Republic Day

US President Donald Trump has reportedly turned down the India’s invitation to be chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations to be commemorated on January 26, 2019.

The refusal was conveyed in the form of a letter from US authorities to NSA Ajit Doval recently, the report said. In the letter, Trump is said to have regretted his inability to accept the invitation.

Trump declining the India’s invitation to be the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations comes weeks after India and the US were not enjoying good bilateral relations over a range of geopolitical issues.

Trump administration, warned India against signing a missile deal with Russia and buying oil from Iran, despite US sanctions.
