Sanaullah says Hafiz Saeed detained under NAP

Author: Online

LAHORE: Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that Hafiz Saeed has been under house arrest under the National Action Plan (NAP) and not at anyone else’s behest.

The minister, while talking to media outside the Punjab Assembly, said that operation Zarb-e-Azab and NAP were continuing in phases to eliminate terrorism and militancy.

He remarked that this was being done with national consensus. He also noted that militancy had been taking root in the country for the last 30 to 35 years which meant that weeding it out completely would take time.

He added that the government had given relief to people by scaling down petrol prices, however due to the recent increase in petrol prices in the international market; prices were forced to increase nominally, a situation which people should tolerate.
