Sindh governor designate terms Karachi peace as his top priority

KARACHI: Sindh governor designate Muhammad Zubair Umar has hinted to provide better law and order situation in the province, especially Karachi as top priority.

“Improvement in the situation of Sindh, particularly Karachi, will be his top priority.” Sindh is the most sensitive province in the country, however, law and order situation in Karachi has significantly improved due to the serious steps and measures taken on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s directives.

Target killing in the metropolis was on the rise but during the last three years, the city is back to normalcy. “We want to restore Karachi as the hub of business again and due to the peaceful environment provided business activities have started taking momentum.”

The Sindh governor designate arrived at Karachi from federal capital on Wednesday morning accompanied by the Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Acting Governor Agha Siraj Durrani on a private charter.

During the flight he held a detailed conversation with the chief minister on a variety of issues. He particularly mentioned that he desires to see better law and order situation in the province. Zubair Umar has hoped to have a good working relationship with the Chief Minister Sindh.

Sources suggest that the swearing-in ceremony of the new governor will be held at Governor House today. The Sindh High Court Chief Justice would administer the oath of governor. Before designated as Sindh Governor, Muhammad Zubair was serving as chairman of Privatisation Commission.
