Late journalist Sohail Khan’s murderer nabbed: Haripur DPO

Haripur District Police Officer (DPO) claimed that the police arrested the murderer of journalist Sohail Khan from Chaman border in Balochistan. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Haripur DPO Mansoor Aman said that the suspect was planning on fleeing to Afghanistan through the Chaman border when he was nabbed following a tip-off.

According to MansoorAman, the police started tracing the location of the assailant following Sohail Khan’s murder. He said that further investigation was underway. Muhammad Sohail Khan, a journalist working with Kay-2 Times, was gunned down by an unidentified assailant in Hattar, an industrial hub on the outskirts of Haripur district Raja Munir, chief reporter of Kay-2 TV, was quoted by the media as saying that gunmen shot Sohail Khan when he was coming back from the court. Khan died on the spot.

Reports stated that Sohail Khan had filed an article against a drug smuggler who was detained by the police. It was widely speculated that the relatives of the detained smuggler might be behind the journalist’s killing. Soon after his killing, Hazara Region DIG Muhammad Alam Shinwari took swift action and directed the Haripur DPO Capt. (Retd) Mansoor Aman to trace the killer immediately.
