ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said that after securing $12 billion assistance package from Saudi Arabia, the country is in a better position.

The prime minister has stated while addressing the nation in order to take the people into confidence over his recent visit to Saudi Arabia.

Imran Khan said that we were passing through the hard time as country was under high pressure to pay the debts. “Today I am here with good news for all of you. With the extended financial assistance from Saudi Arabia, we are now out of the pressure,” he added.

The prime minister thanked Saudi Arabia for its support in difficult time.

He said that country was passing through hard time and we are trying to get loans from friendly countries so that we rely less and less on International Monetary Fund (IMF).  “We are also in talks with other friendly countries for more finance assistance,” Khan added.

PM Khan said that if we went to IMF directly, we have had to borrow more money and that would have meant stricter conditions which would crush our poor class of society. But now we are in a better position, he said.

The prime minister vowed to give more good news to the nation in the future.
