Women parliamentarians will be given equal opportunities: Buzdar

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar presided over separate meetings of Members of the Provincial Assembly belonging from Multan and Sahiwal divisions at the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday.

He listened to their problems and discussed different proposals for their solution while issuing on-the-spot instructions.

Addressing the meetings, the Punjab chief minister said that consultation process with the assembly members will continue. Bilateral liaison will be further strengthened and problems of the assembly members will be timely solved. The genuine problems will be resolved soon while the issues which are against the law will not be dealt with. Every matter will be settled purely on merit, he added. He informed that a strategy has been devised to solve the problems of assembly members at district level and their proposals will also be taken care of.

The chief minister said that he is well aware of the problems relating to southern Punjab districts and added that practical steps will be taken in this regard. A scheme has been devised to start Nishtar Hospital in Multan, he informed.

Punjab CM Sardar Usman Buzdar said that he will personally monitor field situation by visiting divisional headquarters after the budget session and a meeting of the Punjab Assembly will also be held in Multan. He said that the number of arazi centres will be increased.

“In the first phase, 102 arazi centres will be established along-with 20 mobile arazi centres to serve in far-flung areas of the province,” he said, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision will be materialised jointly for bringing a meaningful change in the country. Solution of people’s problems will be provided at their doorsteps. Such is the manifesto of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and every possible step will be taken in this regard. Similarly, implementation on proposals of the assembly members will be ensured as well. He said that the government is working day and night to serve the masses and problems being faced by different cities and towns are taken care of.

“We have come to power to deliver to the masses and have no other agenda like the past government,” he said.

Talking to women assembly members, the CM said that the PTI government will provide equal opportunities for women empowerment adding that women parliamentarians have played an unforgettable role in the political struggle. Implementation on the proposals put forth by women parliamentarians will be examined and womenfolk will be given their due status in the society. The women parliamentarians should play their proactive role so that a meaningful change could be ensured in the society, he added. Different parliamentarians apprised the CM about their problems and gave proposals for their solution.

Senior minister Abdul Aleem Khan, provincial ministers, chief secretary, additional chief secretary, inspector general police and secretaries attended the meeting.

Separately, Sardar Usman Buzdar said that children can be saved from polio through timely vaccinations.

The CM said that adoption of effective measures for complete eradication of polio from the society is the collective responsibility of the government as well as the society. Parents should ensure administration of anti-polio drops to their children so that they may remain safe from this disease. The complete eradication of polio from Pakistan is an important agenda of the government and every effort will be made for that purpose, he added. He said that Punjab government is following an effective strategy so that polio could be completely eradicated and the role of health department and other allied agencies is very important in this regard. The purpose of celebrating this day is to sensitise the people about the importance of a polio-free world and to reiterate the commitment that vigorous efforts will be made to completely mitigate the polio disease. Today, we also reiterate this commitment that every effort will be made to make Pakistan a polio-free country, concluded the CM.

Separately, Usman Buzdar attended the oath- taking ceremony of new chief justice of Lahore High Court Anwarul Haq at the Governor’s House.

He also congratulated the new chief justice and expressed good wishes to him.
