New projects powered by high technology can be utilised by both Pakistan and China: mayor

Nanchang City Deputy Mayor Ling Wie met with Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz on Tuesday.

On the occasion, other members of the delegation along with Nanchang deputy mayor were also present. Officers of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) including sanitation director, administration/human rights director, municipal administration director, environment director and public relations director were also present in the meeting.

Sheikh Anser Aziz warmly welcomed the deputy mayor on behalf of Islamabad citizens and said that for the first time, the responsibility of the city has been reposed to elected representative in shape of MCI. The mayor informed the delegation that MCI is taking concrete steps to provide state of the art facilities to residents of Islamabad. He emphasised that keen interest of the Nanchang City’s deputy mayor in various projects reflect the indispensable Pakistan-China friendship. He informed the deputy mayor that MCI is already working on a Solid Waste Management project, production of energy from garbage, electric bus project besides the projects of chairlift and amusement park in Islamabad. Both Pakistan and China can utilise the technology together. He further invited the deputy mayor that working relation groups of each municipality can work together in these projects.

The Islamabad mayor said that after the inception of MCI, we increased the mutual coordination with the municipalities of different countries.

The mayor of Islamabad told the delegation during the meeting that MCI is also working to replace old water supply infrastructure with modern infrastructure. He further added that street lights of the city are being replaced with new ones with the passage of time.

Anser Aziz during the meeting said that it is a pleasure to work with our Chinese brothers for uplift projects in Islamabad. The sincerity and commitment of China for progress and prosperity in Pakistan is impressive.

“We will further expand our area of cooperation and consultations with the Chinese in the best interest of the two countries,” he said. The visiting Chinese delegation invited the Capital Development Authority counterparts to visit china to benefit from expertise of Chinese professionals.
