Officials of the Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) are allegedly involved in electricity theft as the administration is providing illegal electricity to the slums near the slaughter house of MCR.
There are more than 50 slums established on the side of Nala Lahi near the slaughter house of the MCR at Dhok Ratta. The municipal corporation has illegally awarded the administration of the slaughter house to former contractor Kashan. According to the law, it should be run by the officials of the municipal corporation.
Sources said the officials of municipal corporation have provided electricity connections to the slums situated near the slaughter house and collect Rs 1,000 from each every month. The electricity bill of the slaughter house is being paid from the account of municipal corporation.
Source said, due to the illegal electricity connection, MCR pays more than Rs 100,000 per month in favour of electricity bill, while the actual consumption of the slaughter house is not more than a few lights.
