Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentary leader in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh on Monday visited Sukkur’s village Ghulam Rasool Sambhani of Saleh Pat and announced Rs 60,000 compensation each for the families of the victims of wall collapse incident.

On October 11, at least nine children died and two others were injured when the dilapidated wall of a house collapsed, rescue sources said.

According to details, Haleem Adil Sheikh condoled with the bereaved families and offered fateha. He contacted Baitul Mal Managing Director Aun Abbas and announced compensation of Rs 60,000 each for the bereaved families.

Talking to the media, Haleem Adil said that it was a tragic incident. He said the Sindh governor had also expressed sympathy to the bereaved families.

The minister lamented that was neither any school nor a proper healthcare facility from Saleh Pat to Sukkur. He said when the injured children were rushed to Sukkur their parents had to buy medicines from their pocket.

He said that the area was rich in oil and gas yet the locals were deprived of basic facilites.

He said that if there had been a functional hospital this huge tragedy could have been lessened to some extent.

Criticising the Sindh government, the PTI lawmaker said the Sindh ministers were mere issuing statements while the poor people of the province were braving tragic deaths.
