The Higher Education Commission (HEC) inquiry committee approved the research papers of a senior faculty member of Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) who was accused of plagiarism on Sunday.

The HEC committee after review, found no plagiarism in the research papers of faculty member Dr Tasawar Hayat who is the chairperson of QAU Mathematics Department.

“An initial review of research papers accused of plagiarism was carried by an independent expert committee constituted by the HEC. The committee has not found plagiarism in the papers, therefore no further action is required in this regard,” reads a letter signed by HEC Quality Assurance Deputy Director Munir Ahmed.

In April, Dr Tasawar Hayat was accused of stealing his research work in the published papers from different sources.

He alleged for similarity index in around nine research papers of different titles including Hall Effects on the Unsteady Hydromagnetic Oscillatory Flow of a Second Grade Fluid published in the International Journal of Non-Linear Mechanics.

Stagnation Point Flow of Maxwell Fluid was published in the Alexandria Engineering Journal. Periodic Unidirectional Flows Of A Viscoelastic Fluid With A Fractional Maxwell Model, Hydro magnetic Couette Flow Of An Oldroyd-B Fluid In A Rotating, An Oscillating Hydro magnetic Non-Newtonian Flow In A Rotating System, The Application Of Homotopy Analysis Method For MHD Viscous Flow Due To A Shrinking Sheet, Heat Transfer In The Boundary Layer Flow Of Maxwell Fluid Over A Permeable Shrinking Sheet and Effect Of Heat Transfer On The Flow Of A Second-Grade Fluid In Divergent/Convergent Channel were accused of being plagiarised.

Following these allegations, the HEC formed an impartial committee to probe the matter which termed the accused impeccable.
