Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Syed Kaleem Imam on Friday vowed to wage ‘Jihad’ against criminals involved in the child abuse cases.

Dr Syed Kaleem said that every single policeman of the Sindh police was ready to wedge jihad against such elements in the society. This he said during the concluding ceremony of the week-long session on forensic interviewing and child kidnapping held at Central Police Office (CPO) under the American government. A total 24 policemen of the Sindh police, ranking from assistant sub-inspector to inspector, participated in the session. During the session, the policemen were provided training on how to investigate the child abuse cases and how to interrogate the suspects.

At the end of the session, Sindh IGP also thanked the American Consulate General Joanne Wagner and other guests. “The coordination of the America and INL in various departments, especially in Sindh province is very important ahead of the reforms,” commented Sindh IGP. “Zainab’s case is a lesson for all those who have been involved or have intentions in the child kidnapping or child abuse.”

Sindh IGP asserted that the Sindh police was at war with such elements and every single policeman of the Sindh police was to stand against these elements and wage a ‘jihad’ against them. “These people are actually not human beings,” he said. “Crime is crime,” he added. He also requested parents, teachers and other guardians to report such cases to the police on an immediate basis.

The American envoy also addressed the participants. She said that she was very happy that the Sindh police was pursuing child abuse cases sincerely. She also paid tribute to the martyrs of the Sindh police who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. “American government’s coordination with the Sindh police has become good example and this will remain continue,” she said. Karachi Additional Inspector General (AIG), Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Headquarters, DIG Establishment and other senior police officials were also present on the occasion.
