RAWALPINDI: Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has approved the metro bus project from Sadr metro bus station to Motorway chowk via Mall Road.

The CM Punjab has issued directives for working out the PC -1 of this project.

According to media reports, the CM approved this project during a meeting with the National Assembly member Ibrar Ahmad NA-54, in Lahore.

Shahbaz Sharif also approved the grant of 300 million rupees for Rawalpindi Chaklala cantonment.

Through this project, the basic problems of both Cantt areas will be resolved.

On the other hand, the CM also approved 32 million rupees for the construction of an incomplete project of Boys College in Dhok Syedan and directed to complete these projects as soon as possible.

Firdosi Road residents demand repair: Firdosi Road a link road connecting areas of New Old Lalazar, Adiala, Rah e Aman Dheri, etc was in shabby condition due to non repair by the Chaklala Cantonment authorities.

A large number of residents from these areas who transitfrom the road said that they had brought the problem into the notice of the authorities concerned many times and requested them for repairing the dilapidated road which was fast breaking up due to rains.

Tariq Ali a resident of adjacent Tufail Road said while the MES staff had repaired the leaking water pipeline, “we urge the Cantt officials to carry out carpeting or filling of numerous potholes on the road”, adding as section of Khadim Hussain Road is closed for going to Saddar and other areas one has to use the road whose condition is deteriorating fast due to non maintenance.

Monitoring: The Anti-Corruption Department has set up teams for monitoring drug-inspectors and registry branches working across the Punjab province including Rawalpindi division.

According to sources, the anti-corruption teams will devise and formulate monitoring reports of corrupt drug-inspectors and registry branches and submit it to the DG Anti-corruption Punjab.

On receipt of reports about corruption from respective departments the Director Generals of Anti-corruption Punjab have issued a letter to directors of all regions including Rawalpindi region to ensure monitoring of corrupt drug inspectors and registry branches in their region and send a final report to the DG Punjab for action against them.

The Special team has been established in Rawalpindi for taking up monitoring assignment against drug inspectors.
