LAHORE: Representing Pakistan in Indonesia Asian Para Games 2018, Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) athlete Haider Ali outclassed his competitors to win two gold and one bronze medals for the country. The event was held in Jakarta, Indonesia from October 06 to 13, 2018. As many as 44 countries participated in the event. The Pakistan squad that participated in the 8-day event comprised of 11 athletes. It is pertinent to mention that all the medals, two gold and one bronze, were won by the WAPDA athlete for Pakistan. In an unprecedented move, Haider grabbed two golds in discuss throw and javelin throw, while he secured one bronze in long jump. WAPDA players have not only been showing their class at the national level but also bringing laurels to Pakistan in international competitions. Apart from achievements at international level, WAPDA are national champions in 33 sports and runners-up in 19 disciplines. WAPDA is the biggest employer of sportspersons in Pakistan, as more than 2100 players and sport officials are associated with various units of WAPDA Sports Board across the country.
