Murad inducts four more ministers in his cabinet

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah expanded his cabinet on Monday by inducting four more ministers.

Now the number of the provincial cabinet members has reached to 16 plus two advisors.

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail administered oath to the new minister at a simple ceremony held at the Governor House. The ministers who took oath include TaimoreTalpur, Syed Awais Shah, Murtaza Baloch and Bari Pitafi.

It may be noted that TaimoreTalpur is son of member of national assembly (MNA) NawabYousifTalpur and is a Sindh assembly (SA) lawmaker from Umerkot district. Syed Awais Shah is a SA parliementarian from Sukkur, Murtaza Baloch from Malir and Abdul Bari Pitafi from Ghotki.

Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah had inducted eight ministers in his cabinet in the first phase on August 19 and four more in the second phase on September 5. Four new ministers were added to the provincial cabinet in the third phase on Monday. CM Murad can still induct two more ministers, as per rules.

The oath taking ceremony was conducted by acting Chief Secretary (CS) Mohammad Waseem and was attended by Sindh Pakistan PeoplesParty (PPP) President NisarKhurto, provincial ministers, MPAs, MNAs, bureaucrats and other notable officials.

Sindh CM urges federal govt to develop criminals data

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that 2200 policemen and a large number of Rangers officials had rendered their lives for restoration of peace in Karachi in the metropolis.

“We owe a word of thanks to those officials and their families,” said CM Murad.This he said while talking to Interior Minister Shehryar Afridi at the CM House. The meeting was attended by IG Police Kaleem Imam, Home Secretary KaziKabir and Principal Secretary to CM Sajid Jamal Abro.

Murad Ali Shah said that the general and by-elections had been held in the city in a peaceful manner. “This is because of restored law and order, otherwise this would not have been possible,” he said. CM Murad urged the state minister to establish a data-bank of crime and criminals on national level with an access to the provincial government. “We had taken this decision in the Apex committee meeting during the last tenure but it could not be implemented and now it is need of the hour,” he said.

He also urged the visiting state minister to issue necessary directives to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to cooperate with the Sindh police in identification-related issues of criminal elements.

The state minister on behalf of the federal government assured the CM of full support and cooperation in every sector, particularly in law and order issues.

A prayer was said for the martyrs of police, rangers and other members of law enforcement agencies who had laid their lives in the line of their duty during the operation in the city.

Murad to introduce reforms in civil service structure

Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah said that he was committed to introducing reforms in the provincial civil service and every government servant would be given an ample opportunity for upward mobility through promotions.

This he said on Monday while talking to Prime Minister’s (PM) Advisor for Reforms and Austerity DrIshrat Hussain at the CM House. He said that there was a dire need of introducing reforms in civil bureaucracy’s old structure. “We would frame some reforms and share them with you,” he told the visiting advisor.

Murad Ali Shah said that every employee who joined the government service must have proper service structure so he could work hard for his future. “Service structure would also be made for every cadre of provincial service,” he said.

DrIshrat Hussain who is also an ex-bureaucrat said that the structure of bureaucracy was old one and it needed improvements. The chief minister said that he would form a committee to suggest reforms and they would be shared with the central government.
