Author: Staff Report

Nationwide Measles Eradication Drive will be kicked off from today (Monday) and will continue until October 27.

Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has appealed to parents, teachers, civil society and ulema to come forward and strengthen hands of government in this national cause and make the future of our children safer.

In a message, she said that 15,000 teams of the Health Department have been deputed in all areas of Punjab and about 11 million children would be injected with the anti-measles vaccine.

“Injection would be administered to children who were six months to seven years old,” she said. All districts have been provided with injections, syringes and other equipments.

She added that social mobilisers have also been trained and they were fully mobilised in their respective area.

“Reach every child in door to door drive and health officers should check field teams on spot during the anti measles campaign,” directed the minister.

She expressed her satisfaction over preparation of Health Department and said only a preventive measure could save a child from this epidemic. The minister said that any information regarding measles eradication drive can be acquired from the health helpline 0800-99-000.
