ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that India is trying to divert the world’s attention from its atrocities against innocent people in Held Kashmir.

Talking about Indian provocations along the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary (WB), during his visit to the Lahore Garrison on Friday, the COAS said the Pakistan Army and Rangers were “fully prepared for [giving a] befitting response to any misadventure from across” the border.

The COAS said that the nation acknowledges and fully supports the Pakistan Army’s contributions to the fight against terrorism and militancy. “We shall always come up to the expectations of the people of Pakistan who are our real strength,” he said

Upon his arrival, the COAS laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada (Martyrs’ Monument). The COAS was briefed in detail on the operational preparedness and other matters at the Corps Headquarters (HQ) and the Punjab Rangers Headquarters, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a news release. The COAS expressed his satisfaction over the troops’ operational readiness and appreciated the Punjab Rangers’ response to the ongoing ceasefire violations by Indian troops along the WB.

Later, the COAS addressed officers and troops of the Lahore Garrison. Taking them on board about the prevailing security environment, the COAS highlighted the challenges for the army. He said that the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Rangers had played an important role for reduction in the internal security threats as well as effective response along the WB.
