DADU: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday said that the provincial government was working to resolve all issues in Thar.

Speaking to journalists in Pipri village after offering condolence with Dr Sikandar Ali Shah on the demise of his aunt, the chief minister said that food items like wheat were being distributed among drought-hit people of the region. He added that medicines were also being provided to the people at hospitals in Thar.

The chief minister was accompanied by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MNA Sardar Sikandar Ali Rahpoto and PPP leader Shaman Rahpoto during his daylong visit to the districts of Dadu and Jamshoro.

To a question, he said that incumbent government had created an economic crisis in the country. In a jibe at the ruling PTI, he said that the incumbent PTI government only managed to sold vehicles and buffaloes during the first two months of its tenure.

Commenting on the recently launched Naya Pakistan Housing Programme by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Murad said that the government had no funds to build the five million low-cost houses. “We will see how the government will complete the task in the specified timeframe.”

When asked to comment on the arrest of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif, the chief minister said that the arrest of the opposition leader in the National Assembly had raised many eyebrows. “I am not against the crackdown on the corrupt people but it should not be used to victimise opponents.”

Replying to a question about unfair distribution and shortage of water in Dadu and Johi canals, he said that he had directed Sindh Irrigation Department Secretary Syed Mustafa Jamal to curb shortage of water. He said that the Irrigation Department would provide fair share of water to tail-end growers.

Earlier, the chief minister arrived at the house of Sardar Dur Mohammad Bozdar and offered condolence and on the death of the mother of Sardar Dur Mohammad Bozdar and Sardar Qadir Bux Bozdar.
