‘Police justice’ on capital road

ISLAMABAD: A youngster was gunned down by the police at a check point near I-10/1 CDA stop for not stopping his car while his girlfriend who was sitting beside him escaped miraculously.

On the night between Thursday and Friday, two police personnel of Eagle Squad including Samiullah Niazi and Tariq signalled a suspected car No 4724 to stop at a check point near CDA bus stop in I-10/1.

The youngster Taimore Riaz who was driving the car did not stop. Policeman Samiullah Niazi fired three shots with his pistol that killed Taimore on the spot. The girl Sonia who was sitting beside him remained safe. Both the police personnel escaped from the scene following the death of the youngster.

On information the family members of the victim who are living in Pir Wadhai blocked the road and started protesting against the police by placing the dead body on the road.

The senior officers of the police and district administration reached the spot and the protesters called off their protest after negotiations.

On the report of Sajid Riaz, brother of the victim, Sabzi Mandi Police registered the murder case of Taimore against the two police personnel under case No 39/2016 section 302/34.

Sources said that Sonia girlfriend of the victim had come from Lahore to celebrate the birth anniversary of the deceased. Both were tied into a bond of friendship through Facebook.

It is learnt that the deceased Taimore Riaz was already married and was the father of two children. His girlfriend Sonia was divorced after six months of marriage. Later both became friends through Facebook chat. The wife of the deceased Taimore was aware of the friendship between the two.

The post-mortem of the deceased Taimore was carried out in PIMS and as per preliminary post-mortem report he received three bullets in his body. The bullet which hit him from behind the head caused his death.

Sonia, the girl friend of the deceased, was taken to the police station soon after the incident. Family members of Sonia also reached Islamabad from Lahore after the incident. According to Sonia’s mother the police did not allow them to meet their daughter for several hours.
