LARKANA: Provincial president of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, has demanded of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan to announce the date when he will commit suicide after he has announced to get a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Khuhro, while addressing a press conference at Larkana press club on Tuesday, said that Imran Khan, during his sit-ins and gatherings, had announced that he will commit suicide but will never get loans or grants from anyone adding that now Imran Khan has announced that he will get loan from IMF therefore, he should tell the nation about his date of committing suicide because the nation is awaiting it. The provincial president further said that after this announcement by Imran Khan, the dollar has reached an all-time high from Rs124 to Rs137 and during the next few days, it may reach Rs150. He said that this devaluation of our currency will create economic crisis and price hike due to which poor people will be forced to commit suicides. Khuhro said that before the masses start committing suicide due to this government’s anti-poor policies, Imran Khan should give date of his suicide and fulfill promises he made during sit-ins. He said that the rates of electricity, gas and petroleum products have increased thus a bomb of price hike was thrown over the people and CNG station owners have been forced to observe strikes but, he added, the PPP will always be with the masses and raise its voice at every forum.

Khuhro criticized the Prime Minister by saying that Imran Khan has lost his reputation worldwide. He said that overseas Pakistanis are reluctant to donate to Supreme Court of Pakistan Diamer-Basha Dam Fund due to the wrong policies of incumbent government. He further said that the Prime Minister announced earlier to build 5 million houses and create 10 million new jobs but practically, no policy has so far been announced regarding these issues.

The provincial president further said that the Opposition Leader, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, should have been arrested 10 months ago if an inquiry was going on against him at that time and now, his arrest will be termed as political revenge adding that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should be allowed to work independently.

Khurho said that infants are only dying in Thar because weak mothers are giving birth to weak children and the Sindh government has been distributing free wheat in the drought-hit areas of Thar for the last four years and this system has also been started in Kohistan and Kacho areas this year. He claimed that the Sindh Government is working on improving conditions of hospitals in the province and Basic Health Units and Taluka Headquarter Hospitals are being upgraded. Khuhro said that the issue should be thoroughly probed as to how billions of rupees are transferred into private bank accounts of different people.

Anti-measles drive to commence from Oct 15

As many as 258,753 children will be vaccinated during the 4-day anti-measles vaccination drive from October 15-18 in the Larkana district. This was disclosed by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Larkana Muhammad Noman Siddique while addressing a press conference at local press club on Tuesday.

The DC was accompanied by Professor Dr Saifullah Jamro, Head of Unit-I, Paeds and Medicine Department of Chandka Medical College and Hospital, Dr Abdul Rahman Baloch, District Health Officer (DHO) and others. They urged the parents to get their kids vaccinated so that children could be saved from this dangerous disease. They further said that for this purpose, a four-member team has been constituted which include one skilled person, one team assistant and two social workers. The DHO claimed that the target for this vaccination drive will be achieved.

Dr Jamro said that measles has been wiped out worldwide but it still exists in Pakistan. He said that breastfeeding, nutritional food, safe drinking water and timely vaccinations will increase immunity among the children for which parents’ help is highly needed.
