MULTAN: Local police has arrested a suspect on Tuesday who allegedly killed his wife, daughter and son on the directives of fake faith healer in Kabeerwala, sub district of Khanewal.

According to the Sadar Police, Shaukat Ali, a resident of village Mahni Syal in Kabeeerwala, allegedly beheaded his wife and attacked his two sons and a daughter with a sharp knife when they were asleep on Sunday night. His wife Parveen, aged 40, and son Abdur Rehman, aged 9, died on the spot while his daughter Marium, aged 17, was shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in a very critical condition from where she was referred to Nishtar Hospital Multan where she died after 14 hours. Shaukat Ali’s other son Yaqoob, aged 11, managed to escape the venue and only received minor injuries, said the police.

Sub Inspector Nazar Hussain of Sadar police station told this scribe that the police and Rescue 1122 reached at the scene after the area residents informed them about the incident. He added that the accused Shaukat Ali managed to escape but was arrested by the police teams.

According to the police, Shaukat Ali confessed about his crime and, during investigation, told that the faith healer Murshid Jabir Shah, a resident of Multan, ordered him to kill his wife and children. “I requested Peer Sahib to tell me some solution to control my disobedient wife and children and I killed my wife because of his low character”, said Shaukat Ali during investigation.

The police told that the bodies were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Kabeerwala for autopsy and a case has been registered against Shaukat Ali at Sadar police station.

The residents of the area, where this unfortunate event took place, demanded from the police to arrest the faith healer who insisted on killing innocent lives. Hajra Bibi, a neighbor, told that Shaukat Ali was not ashamed of his brutal act. She told that the faith healer brainwashed Sahukat Ali and told him that his wife was of bad character and his 9-year old son was not his real child and thus Shaukat Ali killed his wife and daughter in the name of honor and son for being illegitimate child. The area residents told that for the last one week, Shaukat Ali was inflicting torture on his wife for not being loyal to him as said by the faith healer.
