WASHINGTON: Hundreds of protesters marched from the White House to the US Capitol, chanting and waving signs in an expression of solidarity with immigrants targeted by Donald Trump’s controversial travel ban on Saturday.
They held a peaceful rally at the Capitol building, across the street from the Supreme Court, protesting against the president’s recent order banning refugees and travellers from seven Muslim majority nations from setting foot on US soil.
The multi cultural crowd chanted slogans like “Donald, Donald can’t you see, we don’t want you in DC and held placards that read “love knows no borders “
The very controversial order by the Trump administration bars refugees from entry in the United States for a period of 120 days and an indefinite ban has been introduced against the Syrian refugees.
A 90-day suspension has been enforced on visa issuance for visitors and migrants from seven Muslim majority nations namely, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Somailia, Sudan and Yemen.
