Former Sindh chief minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Sunday lashed out at the provincial government of Sindh led by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for its inefficiency and negligence in resolving critical issues of famine and atrocious drought in Thar, which have so far claimed lives of hundreds of children.
“Instead of rushing food, water supplies and medical services, the government has been a ‘silent spectator’,” he said and urged rulers to consider such issues seriously.
He said that the provincial government has been presenting scenes of a fish market in the Sindh Assembly.
“Once again, the PPP has stolen the mandate of Sindh, and has continued to ignore issues of a common man,” he said.
He stated that the provision of wheat to the people in Thar was insufficient, and held PPP workers responsible for looting wheat.
He further claimed that the situation was not different in Lower Sindh as Kharif crop could not be sown due to water scarcity.
He appealed to the provincial government for ensuring provision of food, water and medicines to all calamity-hit districts.
