Still no judgment on Musharraf in Benazir murder case: Bilawal

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Friday said the Supreme Court has given no judgment on former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf in the Benazir Bhutto murder case.

“My family has had a long relationship with the judiciary. We have been coming to the courts for three generations. Those who helped with the DNA in Benazir Bhutto murder case have been acquitted,” he told media outside the apex court, adding, “No judgment has been given on Pervez Musharraf who has already fled the country.”

“Everyone had told BB that her life was in danger and that there were threats to her,” Bilawal said, adding that no measures were taken by the then government to protect her. “I am Zulfikar Bhutto’s grandson and I will use my legal right to get justice,” he said.

Bilawal was in court for the hearing of a petition seeking the suspension of bails granted to two police officers accused in the murder case of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

Separately, speaking to media in Sargodha Bilawal alleged that the new governments in Punjab and the Centre were ‘imposed’ on the country. “Imran Khan had promised that he will create 10 million jobs and construct five million houses. However, the supplementary budget neither has any mention of the jobs nor the promised houses,” he said, adding that the ‘tabdeeli budget’ has slashed funds for all sectors, including education and health.

Commenting on the recent increase in tariffs of electricity and gas, Bilawal said the hike will only affect the common man. “This government will continue to take away attention from real problems by distracting the people,” he said.
