As many as 6,000 students from different public and private educational institutions thronged to attend the 10th Lahore International Children’s Film Festival (LICFF), 2018.

The six day LICFF has brought together dozens of short films and entertainment-related activities for school going children. The festival commenced on Monday at Cinepax Cinema, Packages Mall and has been organised by The Little Art (TLA) in collaboration with its partners to provide a platform for youngsters for presenting their talent in front of the other age group fellows.

To entertain the students, three shows of an hour’s duration are being presented on a daily basis whereas in each show around eight-10 short films are played for the audience. It is pertinent to mention that thousands of students from 67 countries had participated through 2,765 films entries out of which only 72 films were selected for the festival. Several films are made by young Pakistani filmmakers.

TLA has announced its national filmmaking competition for under-18 filmmakers, inviting young Pakistani filmmakers to send in their short films and avail a chance to showcase at the LICFF. The competition invited short films on the theme of My Mother/My Father.

Officials said that this announcement generated an unexpected overwhelming response to the submission call TLA made for international film entries for its 10th edition. LICFF Manager Irfan Fayyaz said that TLA not only offers films and other activities but also provides transport facility to Trust and Foundation schools.

Replying to a query, Irfan Fayyaz said that they have allocated a special corner titled Visual Corner where students can create artistic designs and hang those on a wall. Photographs taken by students in the Walled City are also hung there.

He said that the festival has made three groups; the first one comprising children of five years of age, the second group belongs children aged eight-13 and third group is of 14 years to 18-year-olds. He said that the festival will run for a week and will present the world’s best films made by and for children and young people.
