Traffic police official killed as gunmen open fire at a police check post

A traffic police official was killed on Wednesday as unidentified gunmen opened fire on a police check-post in Ahsanabad.

Malir Senior Supreintendent Police (SSP) Shiraz Nazir confirmed that the sub-inspector was on duty when he was shot. “Two assailants riding a motorbike shot the inspector and then fled from the scene of the crime,” said the Malir SSP.

Reportedly, Inspector General Syed Kaleem directed East Zone deputy inspector general (DIG) Amir Farooqi and Traffic DIG Ahmed Ishaque Jehangir to compose a detail report on the incident. He also directed Malir SSP to utilise evidence from crime scene and collect witness testimonies in order to arrest the suspects.
