Police arrested a police constable on Wednesday in the case of seven-year-old Aqsa who passed away after being critically injured by what was termed a ‘stray bullet’ on Sunday.
According to Assistant Supreintendent of Police (ASP) Tariq Nawaz, the West Zone police apprehended a police constable named Waseem Khan from Saeedabad. Police claimed that the constable told them that he had accidentally fired the gun while cleaning it at his house in Saeedabad.
Earlier on Friday, Aqsa was hit by a ‘stray bullet’ during an assembly session in school. The girl was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on Sunday.
The investigation officer handling the case had revealed that the bullet hit Aqsa from a distance of between 150 to 200 yards. The recovered bullet was then sent to forensic labs for investigation.
The constable belonging to Ittehad Town police has now been moved to Orangi Town police station.
