Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi met US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Washington on Tuesday.
The two leaders discussed bilateral relations, overall situation of South Asia, including Afghanistan during the meeting, Radio Pakistan reported.
Qureshi paid the call on Pompeo on the latter’s invitation during his visit to Pakistan last month.
Earlier, Qureshi met US National Security Adviser (NSA) John Bolton at the White House, Foreign Office spokesman Dr Mohammad Faisal said.
During the meeting, the minister and the adviser discussed bilateral relations. The regional situation in South Asia also came under discussion, Faisal said.
No further details of the meeting were immediately made public by the government. The foreign minister, who is in the United States, earlier represented Pakistan in the 73rd United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York. Last week, Qureshi met Donald Trump at a reception the US president held for world leaders attending the UNGA and said that he requested him to “rebuild the cordial relations that we have enjoyed in the past.”
