The Khasadar Force on late Monday night arrested an Afghan citizen for kidnapping a 14-year-old Pakistani girl and rescued her just before he could cross the Torkham border into Afghanistan.
Reportedly, officials told the media that the Khasadar troops were performing routine inspections in the region when they observed suspicious behaviour of an Afghan citizen as he could not provide satisfactory answers to questioning officers.
Meanwhile, officers found that the girl identified as Sana, resident of Peshawar and a student of 9th grade, was abducted by the Afghan citizen Muhammad Azam.
They were taken into custody and shifted to Landi Kotal lockup for further investigation into the incident.
Landi Kotal Assistant Commissioner (AC) Muhammad Imran confirmed the incident and said that the girl’s family has been informed and the suspect would be dealt as per law.
Local tribesmen alleged that a group of kidnappers from Afghan origin have been abducting women and girls from various parts of Pakistan and transporting them to Afghanistan for selling them into a sordid prostitution ring.
