PSCA claims more than 16,132 cases requiring FIRs taken care of last month

Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) along with Punjab Police Integrated Command, Control & Communication Centre’s secured more than 16,132 observations that warranted First Information Reports in 51 cases by proactive policing and interception of more than 1,710 suspicious persons by the PRU and Dolphin Squad and a thorough probing of 1,451 suspicious vehicles during the month of September, 2018.

According to details, a total of 1,244 vehicles and motor bikes were spotted and intercepted for having no or non-standard number plates and action was taken duly by the ground units thereof. The OMC employs state of the art closed circuit television Surveillance Operations through the geo-strategic grid of cameras within the metropolis. More than 93 rallies and protests were monitored and security measures were ensured.

The 15 Emergency Helpline received 389,334 calls out of which, 266,077 calls were considered hoaxes and approximately 39,871 calls, with genuine concerns, the Dispatch Control Centre generated cases for further action.

At least 22,870 of the calls received sought for information, consultancy, traffic management or City Traffic Police help. The Media Monitoring Centre continued its campaign regarding road safety, e-challaning and efficient use of 15 emergency helpline on the official Twitter and Facebook accounts of PSCA.

PPIC3 served Electronic Data Evidence Acquisition requests initiated by Punjab police and other law enforcing agencies by releasing data pertaining to more than 224 heinous crime cases in addition to showing playback footage to investigation officers in 708 instances. PSCA extended its services in 1,376 cases pertaining to rescue and 1,915 cases pertaining to traffic queries and emergency calls. The PSCA Public Safety app also set its mark high this month thereby contributing to the recovery of four missing persons, three cars, 155 motorbikes and two auto-rickshaws through its lost and found centre.

PSCA has initiated a crackdown in coordination with Punjab police and CTP against illegal and NCP vehicles. The PSCA utilised its unprecedented Public Address Sound Systems capable of two-way communication at around 250 locations across the city on important national days. These systems are tasked to manage traffic, conflict and mob in any developing situations.
