ISLAMABAD: The accountability court on Tuesday has summoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Babar Awan and former prime minister (PM) Raja Pervaiz Ashraf  in Nandipur corruption case on October 24.

The court ordered Babar Awan and Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Raja Pervaiz Ashraf along with six other accused in the case to appear in the next hearing.

The respondents have been directed by the court to ensure their presence in the next hearing.

However, former PM Pervaiz Ashraf has filed a petition in the court for personal appearance exemption.

Last month, the court had directed Babar Awan and Pervez Ashraf to submit bail bonds worth Rs 0.2m each.

Previously, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a corruption case against PTI’s Awan and PPP’s Pervaiz Ashraf for allegedly causing delays in the Nandipur Power Project.

On September 4, Babar Awan had resigned as Advisor to PM Imran Khan on parliamentary affairs after the case.
