KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari slammed the ruling PTI-government saying that it was shying away from accountability.
“The PTI government does not want to give chairmanship of Public Accounts Committee to the opposition. This goes on to show that the party, which boasts about transparency, is shying away from it themselves,” Bilawal said while addressing National Assembly session.
He recalled PPP’s tenure from 2008-13 when it allowed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Chaudhry Nisar to head the PAC. “We set an example for everyone,” Bilawal said.
Bilawal said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was ‘exposed’ and that the PPP will play a significant opposition’s role for issues related to public welfare.
The PPP chief also criticised Prime Minister Imran Khan saying that he ‘wasted’ a golden opportunity by opting not to attend UNGA. “PM Imran had a great chance to present Pakistan’s stance and reservations to the world through UNGA, but he missed it.”
