For provision of technical expertise in introducing e-Rozgaar as a new trade discipline across Pakistan, a Memorandum of Understanding between National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) was signed on Monday.
Through this initiative, NAVTTC and PITB shall assist the youth in earning a sustainable income through online jobs.
PITB Chairman Dr Umar Saif and NAVTTC Executive Director Zulfiqar Ahmed Cheema signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.
Under this project, at least 5,000 young under graduates of a six-month computer and freelancing course and at least 8,000 graduates of a three-month computer and freelancing course will be trained over a period of one year. This partnership aims to establish e-Rozgaar freelancing NAVTTC’s approved centres in Pakistan to provide training to under graduates and graduates of young individuals in the trade of freelancing.
E-Rozgaar Programme has so far trained more than 3,500 candidates in Punjab who have earned foreign exchange equivalent to more than Rs 50 million through online working.
On this occasion, Dr Umar Saif, who is also the founding vice chancellor of Information Technology University said that the programme empowered the youth to create jobs for themselves in technical, non-technical and creative areas rather than to seek for them.
