LARKANA: The Sindh Culture & Tourism Department will organize a three-day international conference to highlight the World Cultural Heritage monument site of Mohenjo Daro from Feb 9. This was stated by Secretary Ghulam Akbar Laghari while talking to media in Larkana on Monday. He said that scholars and other distinguished personalities will put forward their suggestions on how to bring back the ‘Dancing Girl of Mohenjo Daro’ statue from India and discuss other related important issues. He said research is continuing on the Indus Valley civilization. According to the latest research, Mohenjo Daro is 8000 years old – not 5000 years. He said the ruins have been closed to the general public for six days due to the conference which will be inaugurated by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The secretary said that archaeology scholars from 40 countries will read their latest research papers, not only on Mohenjo Daro but also on other important archaeological monuments such as Chanhio Jo Daro and give their valuable suggestions during the event. He said that no damage will be done to the ruins because the entire event will be held on the garden for which the arrangement has been finalized.
