Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said on Sunday that he would bring improvement in railway during the first 100 days as the country cannot not progress without good railways.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had given him the task to bring betterment in railways and hoped that he would make the sector profitable, he said talking to a private news channel.
He said every employee would have to work for improving the railway and the government would take action against corrupt elements in the railway department.
Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said not a single corruption allegation or case was registered against him.
The minister informed that he would inaugurate a train from Sukkur to Karachi on October 16, 2018 to facilitate the people of those areas.
He said a partnership between the private and public sectors was the need of the hour.
To a question, he said he was a big supporter of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor project, but it could not be made successful without railway.
He said the previous government of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had spent billions of rupees on roads which was very unfortunate for the country. Replying to a query, he said no National Reconciliation Ordinance was going to be signed with former PM Nawaz Sharif and added that politics of Nawaz Sharif and his family had ended in the country. He was of the opinion that no comparison could be made between the late Benazir Bhutto and Maryam Nawaz.
