The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gujranwala Dr Shoaib Tariq Warriach said that ‘Clean and Green Punjab’ campaign will be launched in Gujranwala from 1st October and more than one hundred thousand saplings will be planted for the beautification of the city.
The DC, while addressing a press conference at his office on Saturday, said that a crackdown against encroachments, illegal occupation of government land and factories which are causing pollution will also be a part of the campaign. The DC further said that the district administration has so far planted 565000 saplings from the total target of one million saplings in the district. He said that the district administration has sealed three factories and three distributer shops for manufacturing and sale of substandard gas cylinders while seven furnace units have also been sealed for polluting the environment.

He said that to make the city clean, the citizens should extend their cooperation with the administration and waste management department. He said that the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) and forest department will plant the saplings in clusters for the beautification of the city.
